Former Virginia Tech midfielder Pereira represents Venezuela in 2024 Copa América

BLACKSBURG – Former Virginia Tech midfielder Daniel Pereira was selected to the Venezuelan national team's 26-man roster for CONMEBOL Copa América USA 2024. 
 
The 48th edition of CONMEBOL Copa América will begin on June 20, with the match between Argentina and Canada in Atlanta, Ga., and will conclude on July 14 with the final in Miami, Fla.
 
Pereira, who made his debut for Venezuela on June 15, 2023, has four international caps, including two starts. The upcoming tournament will be the 2021 ACC Midfielder of the Year's first non-friendly action for his country.
 
Venezuela's first two matches, Ecuador (June 22) and Mexico (June 26), will be aired live on FS1. The final group stage fixture against Jamaica (TV designation TBD) on June 30 will be contested at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas, the home field of Pereira's club, Austin FC.
 
In the midst of his fourth season as a professional, Pereira has made 105 appearances for the Austin FC across the MLS regular season and playoffs, recording two goals and 14 assists.
 
Pereira played high school soccer at Northside High School (Roanoke, Va.) before making 26 appearances in 2019 and 2020 for Virginia Tech. In the middle of the 2020-21 campaign, he was selected No. 1 overall in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft.
