Valentine Delon ties for second at Schooner Fall Classic

NORMAN, Okla. – Virginia Tech's Valentine Delon fired a 5-under 135 to tie for second and lead the Hokies at the Schooner Fall Classic, which wrapped up Monday at Belmar Golf Club (par 70, 6,188 yards).

Behind Delon's strong play, the Hokies placed 11th at 12-over 572 (291-281). The sophomore carded rounds of 67 and 68.

Houston prevailed in the team race with a 9-under 551 (276-275). Auburn was two strokes behind at 7-under 553 (273-280), followed by Florida State in third at 6-under 554 (284-270).

Florida State's Mirabel Ting fired a 6-under 134 (67-67) to edge Delon, Auburn's Anna Davis and FSU teammate Lottie Woad by a shot for the individual title.

The Hokies return to the links Sept. 30-Oct. 2 at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, hosted by the University of Arkansas at the Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville.
