Haught called up to USWNT roster

The Hokie alum and current Utah Royals goalkeeper joins the squad for the remainder of October

CHICAGO – Utah Royals goalkeeper and Virginia Tech alum Mandy Haught has been called up to the U.S. Women’s National Team for the first time in her career.

She will join the USWNT as the squad prepares to face Iceland on Sunday Oct. 27 at 5:30 p.m. The team also plays Argentina at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30.

The Jacksonville, Fla. native was a member of the USA’s 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Team and finished her U-20 career with 10 caps. She was the starting goalkeeper for the USA at the 2018 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship and also played for the USA at the U-18 WNT level.

Haught is in the middle of a record-breaking season for the Royals, recording 78 saves. She has appeared in 23 matches and played 2,070 minutes with four shutouts. She joined the Royals after winning an NWSL Championship in 2023 with Gotham FC.

The most decorated goalkeeper in Tech history was a 2019 United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-American. She is the Hokies’ career leader in shutouts (32) and goals against average (0.99). She made 75 career starts and tallied 7,015 minutes of action.
