CARY, N.C. - The Hokies opened the November slate of competition at the ACC Championships on Friday morning. Ten members of the squad, four men and six women, recorded personal-bests in their event and George Couttie secured a top-10 finish and All-ACC honors.
The male competition field consisted of 158 athletes and 17 teams and the female side saw 168 athletes from 18 teams.
George Couttie was the top finisher for the men in the 8K, placing sixth in the field with a career-best time of 22:36.7 and earning his first accolade in a Tech jersey with All-ACC honors. His effort was also the fastest 8K time of the season for the Hokies.
Leading for the Hokies in the women's 6K was Sharon Chepchirchir, who also recorded the fastest time of the Tech women in the event so far this season, with a 20:14.2 finish.
