BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech women’s basketball is off to a great start in head coach Megan Duffy’s inaugural season. The Hokies have won their last two matchups by a combined margin of victory of 58 points. Coach Duffy and company will play host to Rutgers at Cassell Coliseum on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 6 p.m. ET. Here are five reasons why you should attend this competitive Tuesday evening matchup as the Hokies look to extend their winning streak to three games.

1. Defend Cassell – Tech women’s basketball currently sits undefeated at home with a 3-0 record to start the season. The Hokies have scored at least 85 points in each of their matchups on Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum. Depth across the starters has been a huge boon for the program, as Matilda Ekh, Carleigh Wenzel, and Rose Micheaux have each led the team in scoring and rebounds. Watch the fast-paced action of Hokies basketball and cheer on the student-athletes as they battle to remain unbeaten at home.

2. Montgomery Co. Christmas Store – Hokie Nation, here is your chance to make an impact on communities throughout the New River Valley this holiday season. Fans are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys for donations to the Montgomery County Christmas Store. Donation collection boxes will be available on the concourse prior to tipoff and throughout the game.

3. Take a Swing – Being a student means plenty of studying and hours in the library. Take a break from the coursework and enjoy a fun night at Cassell. Fans can show off their putting skills on a Mini Golf Course during pregame on the course. So grab your tickets and hit a hole-in-one with this unique gameday activation.

4. Key Players to Watch – In the young season, the Hokies have shown a familiar chemistry on the hardwood. Coach Duffy and staff boast an up-tempo team that moves up and down the floor with speed and communication. Wenzel leads the team in points (65), averaging 16.3 per game and 5.8 rebounds. The redshirt sophomore is an aggressive downhill slasher with a knack for pushing the pace. In the frontcourt, forward Micheaux is a strong presence in the paint, averaging 14.0 points and a team-leading 6.8 rebounds per outing. A native of Wayne, Michigan, the senior showcases smooth footwork on the interior and the ability to finish through contact.

5. Series Tie Breaker – With eight total matchups since the meeting in 2000, Tuesday’s contest marks the ninth matchup between Tech and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Each program has won four games evenly, splitting the contests, and the Hokies are 3-0 when playing at the Scarlet Knights in Blacksburg. Virginia Tech will look to build upon back-to-back victories over Rutgers, with the most recent 84-59 win coming in Piscataway, New Jersey, last December.
