For the third consecutive year, the Virginia Tech basketball programs joined forces with Carilion Children's to fight pediatric cancer through creativity and community engagement.
Players and coaches from the men’s and women’s basketball teams collaborated with Carilion Pediatric Hematology-Oncology patients to design custom sneakers, raising awareness for pediatric cancer. This initiative is part of the NCAA’s "Coaches vs. Cancer" program.
Over 25 young patients were able to create their own design for the program’s footwear, with painting assistance provided by Tech coaches and student-athletes. The women’s team will showcase the designs during their Jan. 30 game against Notre Dame, while the men’s team will wear theirs on Jan. 25 against Clemson.
