Meet the 2025 Hokies: Ellie Robertson

The Hokies add Ellie Robertson to their Class of 2025.

Ellie Robertson
Defender/Midfielder
Berkeley Heights, NJ
Rutgers Prep

Robertson joins the Hokies as a defender and midfielder from Berkeley Heights, N.J. Playing varsity soccer at Rutgers Prep, Robertson won three New Jersey State Championships and earned All-State honors in both 2023 and 2024. Her team was ranked No. 1 in the nation by the United Soccer Coaches Association.

“Ellie is a strong tough outside back who can play on either side,” head coach Chugger Adair said. “She has many different talents. She can defend and is comfortable in the defensive role and one-on-one situations but can also attack and create attacking opportunities from the back. We look forward to her coming in and impacting our program during the next four years.”

Why did you choose Tech? From the first time I stepped on campus as a freshman at an ID Camp it felt like home – from the coaches, the facilities and the school, it immediately pulled me in.

What was your favorite thing about your visit? Spending several hours with my future teammates and of course ‘Enter Sandman’ at the football game.

What do you like about the Tech soccer program? How close all the players are with each other, the unbelievable facilities and of course the coaching staff.

What are your soccer strengths? Endurance, seeing the field and staying ahead of the game.

Who is your favorite pro player? Trent Alexander-Arnold – I love how he blends the outside back position with central midfield, his vision, his range of passing and his ability to create!

What do you think you will major in? Human, Nutrition, Food & Exercise – it dovetails nicely with my love of sport, gains me a greater insight into the human body and will hopefully allow me to follow a career within the sport/athletic industry.

What's one thing you'd want Tech fans to know about you? I was born in England to English parents.
