CHARLOTTE, N.C. – After throwing back-to-back perfect games, Emma Lemley has garnered back-to-back ACC Pitcher of the Week honors.
Lemley threw her second straight perfect game against No. 21 Northwestern. Through seven innings, Lemley recorded 16 strikeouts to become just the second Hokie pitcher to throw a perfect game against a ranked opponent.
Her performance against Northwestern came after Lemley’s first perfect game of her career against the College of Charleston (Feb. 9). She tallied eight strikeouts against the College of Charleston in her five-inning perfect game.
Through four games this season, Lemley has a 0.88 ERA and leads the team with 45 strikeouts while holding opponents to a .133 batting average. Her 45 strikeouts leads the ACC and her .133 opponent batting average ranks fourth among ACC players.
Virginia Tech continues its nonconference slate at the Easton Bama Bash (Feb. 21-23) in Tuscaloosa, Ala., with matchups against No. 21 Alabama, Drake and Southern Utah.
