CHESTNUT HILL, MASS - In the penultimate game of the regular season, the Hokies travelled to Boston College for what ended up being a back and forth overtime affair. Ultimately, the Hokies fell in overtime 92-89, moving their record to 17-11 (8-9).
It was the sixth time this season that Tech scored 80 or more in ACC play, setting a program record for a single season, eclipsing the five posted a season ago.
Carys Baker led all scorers in the contest with 24 points, which included four 3-point field goals. She also led the team with eight rebounds. Baker was joined in double figures by Carleigh Wenzel (19), Matilda Ekh (15) and Mackenzie Nelson (11).
The Hokies led 79-75 with just over three minutes to play in regulation and both offenses who had played an efficient game with both teams shooting better than 42% stalled with the Eagles' Dontavia Waggoner hitting two free throws to send the game into overtime in the waning seconds of regulation.
In the extra period, Tech grabbed the lead for the final time after an Ekh 3-pointer at 2:33 made the score 87-85. From there, Boston College outscored the Hokies 7-2, highlighted by a Kaylah Ivey triple with 49 seconds remaining that proved to be the game winner.
The Hokies will close the regular season on Sunday, March 2 at Clemson. That game tips at 2 p.m. and can be seen on ACC Network.
