CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Tech kept the match close, but ultimately fell 4-3 to Chapel Hill Friday evening.
The Hokies kicked off the match by securing the doubles point. Scott Sculley and Ilyas Fahim took a 6-4 win on Court No. 2. The point was clinched after Victor Kimpel and Eyal Shumilov also snatched a 6-4 victory.
Tech started off singles with three first set victories. Alberto Orso gave the Hokies another point on the board, winning 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. Maxime St. Hilaire tied the score at three, walking away with a 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (1) triumph. The squad ultimately fell short, 4-3.
The Hokies will spend the rest of the weekend in North Carolina, facing off against No. 15 Duke on Sunday March 2, at noon.
