CLEMSON, S.C. - On the final day of the regular season, the Virginia Tech women's basketball team earned a much-needed victory in a one-possession game, defeating the Clemson Tigers 78-76 at Littlejohn Coliseum.
The win moves the Hokies to 18-11 (9-9) and secures a first round bye in next week's ACC tournament.
Coming off a loss in a one-possession game, the Hokies found a way to close out the Tigers down the stretch, on the back of four athletes in double figures.
Carys Baker and Rose Micheaux each scored 17 points and they were joined in double figures by Carleigh Wenzel (16) and Mackenzie Nelson who scored a career-high tying 14.
Tech has secured at least the nine seed in the ACC tournament, playing Georgia Tech on Thursday, March 6 at 1:30 p.m.
